It's Time to Think Spring. It's Time to Think Baseball!!
We were recently contacted by our buddy Alex Janowiak out at Kauffman Stadium. She writes;
It’s that time of year again! We have selected our dates for peanut free areas and they are as follows: 5/16, 6/26, 7/19, 8/15, 9/3
Tickets are $37 each and children under 32” do not need a ticket but will not have a seat so they will have to sit on your lap. This promotion is not advertised so you will have to purchase tickets with me over the phone prior to the game date you choose. Please let me know if I can get you set up with tickets for your family to come out and enjoy a game in a safe atmosphere.

Could Your School Use a Little Help???
Exciting news from FAAN!!! Your school could become a national leader in food allergy. FAAN and the CDC have teamed up in a cooperative agreement to help train schools about food allergies. Currently there are 5 pilot schools for the first year but FAAN is looking for 5 more schools to win this prestigious grant. This program will include forming a committee with the district's key planners to create or improve the district's food allergy policy as well as provide training to ALL district employees for FREE!
Contact me on the "Drop us a Line" page if you are interested in working with me to apply for your district. Watch your emails for more details.
Epi Help- News From Mylan
Did you know that in many cases, you may be able to save money by getting your Epi Pens though the mail? In an example given by the Mylan representative at the FAAN conference this year, a family who usually pays $40 for two Epis at a pharmacy might be able to get 6 Epis for $15! Please contact your insurance company to find out if this applies to you.
Also, did you know that schools might be able to get a %50 discount, possibly larger, with bulk pricing?
If you are having trouble paying for your Epis, you may also contact your pharmacist to find out if there is a community grant available. Many times civic organizations, or religious organizations donate funding for those who are in need of financial aid.
Mylan will be expanding from last year's ad campaign from 3 months to 7 months. They are also starting a pilot program to work with Major League Baseball.
Keep your eyes open for these discounts and changes with possibly more to come.
Inclusion Team Anaphylaxis
Our friends at Spokane Food Allergy Support Network created this AWESOME video. It speaks to the point that food allergic children don't just need acomodations, they deserve full inclusion. Their message: "You have the right to be treated equally. You have the right to be included. You have the right to remain alive." Share it with your child's teacher, nurse and principal today.
We're on facebook!!
OK, OK, I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to ask you to "like" us. But I am going to let you know that FACST of Kansas City (Food Allergy: Connect, Share, Thrive) is on facebook. You can visit us to get the latest on food allergy info, find the next meeting and share your tips!
