Binky Goes Nuts: Understanding Peanut Allergies
What is a food allergy? What makes peanut allergies so dangerous? The information and activities in this unit help children learn how they can make their school a safe and healthy place for classmates who have peanut or other food allergies. This unit also includes a printable placemat with pictures and activities about peanut allergies. (Note: The placemat can be printed on both sides of either an 8.5x11" or 11x17" sheet of paper.)

Of Course We Can't Forget Our Friends at FAAN!

FAAN offers different sites for kids of all ages.

FaanKids is a FAAN website geared toward  pre school  & elementary kids with food allergies. Alexander the Elephant is there sharing info, stories, activities and projects too.

Faanteen is a FAAN website geared toward teens with food allergies.  There are  articles and links for allergy info, advice, personal stories and  tips for the "real world".

FAAN College Network- a website for the "big kids" off to college.  There is advice on how to cope with food allergies on campus and how to get involved as a campus representative for FAAN.






KidsHealth: A Great Health Site for Kids

Although not specifically targeted towards food allergy, this is a great site to educate kids!  There is great info dealing with feelings, nutrition, and how the body works, videos and games concerning many health topics.  There is a great article about food allergy here.  This would be a wonderful resource to be used in a classroom or youth group.




Mental Health Check Up
  Worrywisekids.org May be Just for You!

Is Anxiety and Stress running your life?  worrywisekids.org is a website geared toward helping families find answers to mental health questions.  There are resources, message boards, links, newsletter sign up and more.

Need Money For College?

Have asthma and allergies? Need money for college? Hello AAFA-KC Friends!

The Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America’s Berri Mitchell Memorial College Scholarship application is now available online. These scholarships are given to high school seniors who are residents of Kansas or Western Missouri, have a history of asthma and/or allergies, have succeeded academically, and have shown an interest in their school and community. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $2,000.00 and will be sent to the college or university of their choice to help defray the cost of their education.
